Sunday Aug.6 saw a perfect day dawn in Broadford Victoria, for Round one of the Oceania 250cc Motocross Championship. The Track was the same, as that used for the 2000 World 500cc Motocross Championship in April and will be used next year for the World Championship Triple (125cc/250cc/500cc) Event.
Although a large field attended the meeting, the Championship was only contested by the SIX nominated riders.

The championship was run over one 30min moto and three 15min motos, Mark Penny sat out 15minutes of the 30 minute moto after being taken to hospital on the Saturday, to still come home sixth and score points for New Zealand.
“The event was perfect, great weather and some great racing. It was unfortunate the Aussies dominated,” said Team Manager Mike Mcleod of Upper Hutt.

Round two, hosted by New Zealand, will be held at Taupo at Labour Weekend.
