A Weekend Of New Zealand Championships

Posted: Wed 08 Mar 2000

The Otago Motorcycle club is holding two national championship events over the first weekend of April and is hoping for a strong turnout of local and national riders.

Saturday the 1st of April 2000 is the New Zealand Standing 1/4 mile championship, to be held on Otokia road, on the Taieri Plains near Momona. The event will be run as an afternoon/evening event to cater for those riders arriving from out of town, hence start time is 1pm with racing planned to go through to around 6pm.

Sunday 2nd April sees the Otago Motorcycle club putting up nearly $3000 in prize money for the New Zealand Road Hill Climb championship. This event is to be held on Three Mile Hill Road just out of Dunedin starting at 9am and running until around 5pm. The event will see riders race against the clock from the bottom of the hill to the top for the fastest time in their class. With the draw of a National title and $3000 in prize money it is anticipated that competition will be intense.

Both events will be free to spectators with good vantage points available.

Entry forms will be available at all motorcycle shops or by contacting Nigel Barrett.
