The Castrol Honda team has blasted the tough opening round of the National Enduro Champs.
On a tough farmland track at Ureti near New Plymouth, the team of Elliott Kent, Paul Whibley and Mark Pollard opened their season with a win in the trade team class.
With rounds one and two of the series held back-to-back, Pollard leads the 0-300 4-stroke expert class on his XR250, while Kent has blasted his XR400 to second in the open four-stroke after leading day one.
\"It was a very physical ride for the beginning of the series,\" said Kent, 32-year-old from Hamilton who is the reigning 0-300 4-stroke champion.
\"I squashed a hand on the last section of day one, the on the second day I got caught behind some slower riders up on a razor-back ridge and that cost me four minutes and the lead.\"
Pollard described the steep, slippery farmland as a real test.
\"But the bike ran great throughout, and we\'re back in the groove now,\" said the 25-year-old Hamiltonian who currently holds the 0-200 2-stroke enduro title.
