Jan 2nd is the Crazy Cross.
Jan 3rd is the Root 100.
As you may have read in the latest DRD magazine we are running a couple of fun races over the New Year’s weekend, mainly for all the riders camping here but everyone is welcome.
We have had a lot of calls since the magazine came out and it seems like we might get a few famous names turning up so, even if you don’t want to ride, come and watch.
Sunday the 2nd is the “Crazy Cross”, an Enduro-cross based at the MX track but including some hill climbs, creek crossings, tyres, logs etc. Lots of races, 10 riders per Moto, an easy race for novices.
Monday the 3rd is the “Root 100”, a cross-country race through all our bush tracks. It will be pretty hard with some mean hill climbs, drop offs and creek sections. Rather than a mass start it will be run as a time trial with riders leaving every 30 seconds or so. Your laps must be completed between 9am and 3pm so there is plenty of time to rest between laps, you can ride it as a 2-man or you can do only one lap if you want.
There’s a $500 prize for the fastest lap, another $500 for the fastest 5 laps. (it will take around an hour to do a lap so it could be last man standing!) and 10 age group prizes of $50 starting at Under16’s through to over 50’s and ladies.
Everyone is welcome to come out for a ride in the days before the race to suss it all out. (Normal track fees of $20 per day apply)
We have a digger here courtesy of FD Hire and will be building the track all week.
Please note we are having a 1-3pm no bikes “siesta time” throughout the Xmas break and our tracks will be closed on the race days.
