Round 3 of the Kentucky Harescramble series was held in the Daniel Boone Trails over the weekend of March 31/April 1.

The drive down was miserable with rain most of the way but by the time we arrived at the venue, the sun was out and the track appeared to be dry.

At 12 o'clock we lined up for the start. The wave of a flag and we were off. I think Ryan Mullins took the holeshot but I snuck through to the lead before the second corner, on a line through the weeds out wide. I settled into a comfortable pace on some of the trails I recognised from last years race.

The organisers had put some hard yards in though and cut some new tracks. Some quite tight and technical, with a covering of leaves hiding the many rocks that lay half buried in the loose topsoil.

The second lap was better with the tracks cut in although a few small bottle necks had occurred on some of the steep rocky hills. The trails were in good shape and had received a perfect amount of rain.

On the third lap with the riders more spread out, the traffic jams had eased. I gassed after the 4th lap and had a comfortable 3 min lead. I pushed on and took the win after 2 hours of racing.
