Husaberg FE450
After setting off from Auckland Saturday afternoon I finally arrived at tar hill a location for one of the special test of the ISDE in 06 and the last stop for the GNCC series.
Sunday morning in Tokoroa was fine with a light wind. A quick briefing it was up the front row for the start. Chris got a quick jump off the start then I was right behind. As we went up the tar seal start strip Chris hooked 5th and I hooked sixth. I was leading into the first corner and along the dust trail.
About half way along the first loop there was position swapping behind me in first. I came up to a two way decision in the trail around a small bunch of pines I happened to take the long way around and Shaun Clarke went the quick way around I tucked in behind him but couldn’t cling to him and remained about 20 to 30 seconds behind until the third lap. I caught him on the last ten minuets of the loop and pitted at the same time. After the quick refuel I was close behind but struggling to hang on to the berg with a full tank and made a few mistake put me back to that 20 to 30 seconds behind first again.
On the fifth lap of six I felt a blister pop under on my clutch hand because I hadn’t prepped my self properly and didn’t tape my hands. So I ended up second behind the big man.
But even with that result I won the over all GNCC trophy. The biggest trophy in off road motorcycling. Really it is that thing is huge!! Off the ground it comes up to my waist.
It has been a long series starting in Woodhill and finishing in Tokoroa. I only won one round and had a 3rd, 2nd,1st and a 2nd so I think I have had a little luck with a lot of consistency but I am please to have won it for a third time and second year in a row on the Husaberg FE450.
Next weekend involves I bit of traveling with the second installment of the Raglan Rocx a two man event riding with Sean Clarke then round one of the TTR Central Enduro series at Makara. A full weekend of racing, which is always fun.
