Hawkes Bay 6 Hour Challenge

Posted: Fri 06 Aug 1999

The Hawkes Bay Motorcycle Club will be holding the Suzuki Six-Hour Challenge on Saturday, 2 October 1999.

This is the clubs ninth Six-Hour Challenge and the second sponsored by Suzuki. As a matter of interest the Hawkes Bay Motorcycle Club has received support from Suzuki NZ for many of its events over the last couple of years. We\'re sure that it\'s because they\'re doing the events right!

The Six-Hour challenge fits into two distinct classes - two man pony express teams, and ironmen. At the top of the first group is the high profile pairings as the major motorcycle distributors seek to have their brand in the overall first past the post finish. Behind them is a great group of guys, (many who return year after year) who ride the six hour as an hour on, hour off, pony express. They can be as aggressive, or as laid back, as they wish.

The real group of hard men though, are those who enter the ironman class. And ironmen they are too! as anyone who has hit the wall in the last hour of a normal 3 hour cross-country race can attest!

After a few years experience we can now promise a pretty well organised race. The track rideable wet or dry, the race starting on time, accurate results, a no nonsense organising team and you won\'t get lost unless you left your eyes at home.

Its on again this year and you are invited to Hawkes Bay for a great event, and a great weekend away. The entry fee includes a slap up feed prior to Saturday evenings prizegiving, and not all the spoils go to the class winners. What more could a motorcyclist wish for!
