The 5th round of the Suzuki Central Enduro Series was a sunny affair with some great riding in the Santoft forest just north-west of Bulls.
Although the forest has dwindled a little over the years there are still some primo tracks, with the third terrain test being a very good example.
Not sure who the hard-luck story should go to... Alan Raynor (KTM 300) for getting his bike so stuck that 7 riders (all pulling at once) couldn't get it out OR Karl Power (Honda CR250) who was heading for a very good third overall before siezing his motor in the very last experts only section.
Cam Smith (Suzuki RMZ450), the overall winner on the day, didn't have everything his own way. On the winding tracks of TT 1 he was forced to quietly follow a slower rider for much of the test. And yes, he did mention it at the end of the special test... not a happy man, but he more than made up for it on the next two terrain tests.
The weather was good, the food was great, the trail times were generous, and there were even cappuchinos and espressos available... and, with only 6 DNF's from the 65 riders entered, a day that everyone enjoyed.
