Hello from Valencia, Espana!
The last few days we were in Austria, we didn\'t do much except go to the gym and freeze our asses off. John went snowboarding one day to Kaprun which is a 2 hour drive from Salzbrug. It snowed on the Thursday morning that we were there and the snow managed to stick around the whole time. It did only snow once, but it was enough to keep the ground covered for several days with clear skies and sunshine. As for me, I just hung around and went to the mall and bought a few dvd\'s. The next day however, we drove back to Kaprun to take some photos and eat lunch at the top of the summit. It\'s a long way to go to get to the top of the mountain and it\'s almost like you\'re going straight up. There use to be a train going to the top of it, but I guess some odd years ago there was a fire and everyone died in it so they stopped using the train. It\'s crazy cause\' the railway is so steep going into the mountain, I was content going up on the lift.
Once we got on to the top, I managed to get some really nice shots of the Alps and Zell am See which is a lakeside town. The drive to Kaprun is on a nice two lane highway that goes thru some real nice surroundings. Austria is a beautiful place.
After that we ate some lunch when we got a call from some of our family that the fire in Ramona was getting really bad and they were asked to evacuate. The Cedar Fire is on the outskirts of Ramona and it was heading towards our house. John\'s mom who lives next door to us had to clear the house and they went over to my mom\'s house which is on the other side of town. It was real sketchy for awhile, we kept calling to make sure they were alright. A few times we couldn\'t even get thru the phone lines. We knew they were all alright but of course we were worried.
Once we got back to the gasthaus, we ate some dinner and went online for a chat. Unfortunately not alot of people were on but fortunately it was good to sign off quickly cause\' John\'s mom was telling us what the situation was in Ramona. So the last few days were a little sketchy for us cause\' we couldn\'t do anything but wait. As of right now, we know that all the family, John\'s side and mine, are ok and all the houses are still standing. However, some of the people we grew up with and some of the places we knew in and around Ramona are gone so it\'s tragic. Loads of other places around SD are gone too, it\'s crazy!!!
Apart from the situation at home, we drove to Munich on Tuesday and stayed the night before flying out to Spain. But now here in Spain at the last round. It was good to see hospitality again I\'ll tell you that much, and the motorhome. The weather is alright, a little chilly, supposed to rain tommorrow but for the rest of the weekend, it calls for sunshine.
I will write some more tommorrow after the first qualifying the session.
See ya later,
Desiree
