King to Call It Quits with Supercross

Hamilton’s international, Darryll King, has decided to make the last round of the national Supercross Championship, this Saturday night at Caulfield Supercross Park, Taupiri his last.

The 34-year-old contested round one in January and finished the night leading the points from younger brother Shayne. He then turned his focus on setting up the new Yamaha motocross team, which took more time than thought.

\"Now that the team is running smoothly, I want to race one last time at one of my favourite tracks,\" said King from his Hamilton base.

After contesting over 100 Supercross races all over the world, the former holder of the number 2 World 500cc Motocross plate, will now concentrate on building up his Yamaha motocross team and helping other riders gain their performances, through his special MXDK Style training schools.

\"One of the goals of the team is to give New Zealand riders a feel of being part of a race team. Having a full time mechanic working with them at the race meetings and hopefully I can help these riders consistently perform at a higher level and then find a ride for them in one of the big teams around the world\", said King.

King has raced Motocross/Supercross from age 16 years-old, won 17 National Championships and is the defending 250cc Supercross Champion.

Saturday Night will see him up against New Zealand’s best, including current points leader younger brother Shayne.

Be at Taupiri for some great Supercross Action
