COPPINS CHASES ITALIAN TITLE:
Motocross ace Josh Coppins is out to become Italian champion this weekend.
Going to the sixth and final round at Asti in the north of Italy, the Motueka-born star is just one point behind the Yamaha of leader, former world champ Alex Chiodi.
"I've enjoyed riding the Italian Champs this year," said the 25-year-old Coppins. "I've never done the series before and it's thrown up a variety of different tracks and challenges. "It's an odd championship with the first five rounds at the start of the year then a big wait 'til this final weekend. "What I'm looking for is a fast, consistent set of races to get past Alex and wrap up the title."
Once again Coppins rides in the new colours of the CAS Honda team from England, for whom he will defend his world 250 runner-up title next year.
Last weekend Coppins dominated the final round of the British Champs for CAS Honda.
