Motorcycling New Zealand advised today that Peter Broxholme has been released from duties in the Asian Supercross Championship to contest the New Zealand Motocross Championships in Mosgiel and Nelson.

“We considered the best alternatives for Peter’s future and it is clearly being a New Zealand Champion. Peter is hugely disappointed but knows he has a major future in Motocross at his fingertips. Blue Wing Honda the sponsors of Peter and strong supporters of MNZ’s efforts into Asia, approached MNZ over his release and it was agreed that Peter will still go to the final Asian Championship round in Thailand in early December.” David Appleton, CEO of MNZ said today.

To maintain New Zealand’s commitment to the Asian Continental Union and it’s president Thongchai Wangsawan, a strong supporter of New Zealanders racing in Asia. Broxholme will be replaced by the Peter Glidden backed Honda rider, TeAwamutu’s Jaden Grey, for the Malaysian round in Kuala Lumpur on November 11.

“Motorcycling New Zealand have been trying very hard to consolidate our relationship with the Asian Union and the opportunities being offered are fantastic. For example, China rang earlier this week to see if we could arrange for a New Zealand rider to appear in the China Championships this weekend – all expenses paid. Asia see us as a source of support in developing their riders.” said Mike Mcleod Senior Motocross Commissioner from his Wellington base.
