Honda’s XR80R junior off-roader makes a welcome return

Posted: Sat 04 Aug 2001

Blue Wing Honda has reintroduced the XR80R to its lineup of off-roaders. Featuring big-bike styling and Pro-Link rear suspension, the XR80R is also distinguished from its smaller siblings by its heavy-duty clutch and five speed manual transmission.

‘The XR80 is the ideal bike for younger riders to hone their skills’ said Blue Wing Honda General Manager Clive Cooper-Smith. ‘In its design concept and styling details it is a scaled-down version of the full-sized XR series, and the manual clutch and five speed transmission provide a real-world riding experience. Whilst having the look of a ‘big bike’, the XR80R is compact and light enough to be easily managed by younger riders, and its eager four-stroke 80cc engine gives it an excellent power to weight ratio.’
