In atrocious conditions that saw the second World Superbike race called off. New Zealand’s Superbike Champion Kawerau’s Tony Rees still shone.
Rees, riding an Australian Production Superbike spec’d Yamaha R1 for his sponsor Bikebiz, blitzed the class field in the rain to record two wins.
Rees took out race one from David Emmerson on a CBR929 by 18.988 seconds and race two by 2.574 seconds from Alex Gobert also on a CBR929.
“ It was great to take the wins, it’s a shame they (the support races to World Superbikes) didn’t count for the Aussie Champs” said Rees after returning home.
However he will not be home for long, he returns to Oran Park outside Sydney, next weekend for Round Two of the Formula Xtreme Series.
