Kawerau’s Tony Rees continued his winning form at Wanganui’s Cemetery Circuit on Boxing Day with five wins from five starts.
Rees on his Superbike Spec’d Yamaha R1 took out both of the Formula Wanganui races. After bad starts in both races Rees battled through the field passing the current Superbike Champion Dean Fulton, to ultimately catch Shaun Harris (on his brand new Suzuki GSXR 1000 modified to Superbike specs) to take the wins.
Rees also took out both Open Sports Production races on his standard Yamaha R1 from Dave Cole on a Ducati and Harris on a Suzuki.
Rees’ day was complete, when he won the Robert Holden Memorial Race again from Harris, with Cole third.
“It was great to win Robert’s Memorial race, I enjoyed racing against him and what better way to remember him than winning his race,” said Rees.
