Timaru’s Johnny Hepburn finished his rookie season in truck racing by winning the B Grade Truck class after two strong finishes at the last round of the Truck racing Series, today at Pukekohe.
Clinching the series is the icing on the cake after he took his first win in truck Racing last month at the Manfield round.
\"It has been great. The win at Manfield was a real high, but to win the B Grade in our first season was the ultimate buzz,\" said Hepburn after racing at Pukekohe.
Hepburn also finished sixth overall in the Open Class.
This season in trucks has been completely different to the Superbikes Hepburn has been used to.
The Isle of Man veteran has been campaigning both his truck and an Aprilia 1000 Superbike this season. In fact at the Timaru round of the Summer series he competed in both classes.
Hepburn intends finishing his hectic season by racing the Aprilia at the John Britten Memorial event scheduled for March 12/13/14.
