As a result of the recent final FIM inspection, the Rio circuit has been deemed inadequate to ensure a normal & safe running of the Grand Prix. Considering that the surface of the circuit does not meet the safety criteria, the FIM has withheld its homologation of the Nelson Piquet circuit with the result that the Rio Grand Prix, scheduled for 18th October, has been cancelled and will not be replaced.
This now leaves just the Aussie GP on October 4, followed by the Argentine GP on the 25th
